Cardiac Follow-Up Therapy

We provide internal-cardiological follow-up treatments for patients having received cardiac surgery at the German Heart Center and the cardiosurgical department of the Charité. In 2012, 2,564 patients were treated and nursed as inpatients. We carried out 6651 echocardiographic examinations, 994 CTs, 961 gastroscopies, and 560 bronchoscopies.

Our areas of expertise include:

  • Treatment of patients with terminal congestive heart failure and terminal pulmonary insufficiency in preparation for a scheduled transplantation,
  • treatment of patients with mechanical circulatory support devices and related infections,
  • solutions for complications after heart, heart-lung, and lung transplantation,
  • surgical treatment of wound healing complications in cooperation with a plastic surgeon,
  • treatment of arterial hypertension and related diseases including CHD, heart attack, stroke, and metabolic diseases such as diabetes mellitus and thyroid disorders,
  • gastroscopy and colonoscopy,
  • monitoring of patients with cardiac pacemakers,
  • and treatment of patients after organ transplantation.
