Work in a modern hospital.
As a specialist hospital which cares for patients following heart surgery, the Paulinenkrankenhaus employs 300 people and has five normal care wards and an intensive care unit. The ward size is manageable (25 beds in normal care, 21 beds in intensive care). We do not operate an accident and emergency department.
The workflows at the Paulinenkrankenhaus are highly standardised, and are characterised by close interdisciplinary cooperation.
The Paulinenkrankenhaus uses state-of-the-art technology to deliver the complex, demanding care our heart patients need: from modern equipment and labour-saving lifting and mobility aids to continuous monitoring and central tracking. We work with electronic patient files, electronic medication management and an IT-based discharge management system.
Individual working hours and attractive income guaranteed.
Your work-life balance is important to us. So we offer you a choice of different working hours models: part-time work, permanent night duty and even temporary periods of time off are possible. We will take your wishes into account if you want to work shorter hours, for instance four hours spread across the morning.
Your pay will be calculated in accordance with the provisions of the TVÖD salary table (collective bargaining agreement for public servants). We also grant supplements for working on Sundays, public holidays and at night, as well as when staff take on additional services or there are changes to the duty rota. Staff can be awarded annual bonuses or special payments on the anniversary of their joining us, and they also receive a bonus if they recruit new staff from among their friends or acquaintances.
From onboarding to career planning – you can be sure of our support.
We develop an individual induction concept for every new employee, which also includes support from mentors and practical instructors. If necessary we will even assist you with accommodation for up to six months and a language course.
Both when you start work and later on, you will receive advice and practical help from nursing assistants and ward assistants. At regular appraisals we will agree training and development opportunities with you, as well as planning the routes for your personal career and leave of absence. The Head of Nursing will be your central point of contact and will always be available for you.

Training and CPD

We believe in developing doctors.
Offering excellent basic and specialty training opportunities is very important to the Paulinenkrankenhaus. Every year we start an extensive continuing education programme and promote specialist and management careers.
The Paulinenkrankenhaus offers doctors the possibility of specialty training in internal medicine/cardiology/intensive care medicine.
The following doctors are authorised to conduct specialty training:
- Dr. Petra Schweikert: Internist 12 months common trunk, 6 months specialist competence
- Dr. Jan Knierim: Cardiologist 18 months specialist competence
- Dr. Frank-Rainer Klefisch: Intensive care medicine 24 months

Echocardiography:
The Paulinenkrankenhaus performs more than 5,000 echocardiography examinations per year. Performing such a large number of examinations on patients, some of whom are affected by very complex heart disease, is only possible with a highly experienced team. We support this expertise by providing intensive continuing medical education in this method. The Paulinenkrankenhaus conducts certified echocardiography courses on a regular basis. Dr. Knierim is instructor for echocardiography at the German Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (DEGUM) and is happy to pass on his knowledge to external guests and the team of the Paulinenkrankenhaus.
We offer excellent training together with high-powered partners.
The Paulinenkrankenhaus offers its own nursing apprenticeships. The apprentices complete the syllabus both at the Paulinenkrankenhaus and at the Wannseeschulen für Gesundheitsberufe.
Applications for a nursing apprenticeship should be sent to our Head of Nursing: pdl@paulinenkrankenhaus.de
For a nursing assistant apprenticeship please apply to Ms Albrecht:
albrecht@pauline-service.de
Our health centre –
a sought-after place for training and CPD.

Our apprentices appreciate the hospital’s transparent structures and the close support they receive from our managers. Mentors and practical instructors with particular training expertise enable us to provide expert instruction.
The Paulinenkrankenhaus offers an extensive programme of continuing professional development for all professional groups, including courses in the clinical field certified by the Chamber of Physicians. These are open to both our own employees and external members of the profession.
An internal agreement regulates time off and assistance for professional development measures, and external providers can also be used. We attach particular value to team development workshops and management development activities.
Service for foreign healthcare professionals
We warmly welcome you.
We provide comprehensive support to healthcare professionals of foreign origin when they join our hospital and start their careers in Germany. This includes submitting applications to the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (LAGeSo), providing advice on the necessary documents (translations, certifications, etc.), assistance with accommodation (depending on availability and for a maximum of 6 months), finding language courses, and finding employment opportunities to bridge the gap until their professional qualifications are recognised.
Please note in particular the checklists provided by the LAGeSo. If certification is required, documents must be certified by German citizens’ registration offices (Bürgeramt) or notaries.
Please check any residence requirements which apply in your individual case. The language requirement for doctors is that they have passed the specialist language examination, and all other professions must demonstrate that they have achieved at least language level B2 (TELC or Goethe).
